She holds a Staff Specialist public appointment at the Royal Hobart Hospital and is the Clinical Director for BreastScreen Tasmania.

Her training as a sub-specialty surgeon in Oncoplastic Breast, Endocrine, Melanoma and Soft Tissue Tumours, includes a year at the Mater Hospital Brisbane (QLD) as a BreastSurgANZ Accredited Fellow doing Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast and Endocrine Surgery; followed by a two-year fellowship in Sarcoma, Melanoma and Rare Tumour Surgery at The Royal Marsden Hospital (UK); and then as a Breast, Endocrine and General Surgical Fellow at The Tweed Hospital and John Flynn Private Hospital (NSW/QLD), sub-specialising in Surgical Oncology.

Dr Sivarajah received her primary medical degree at Monash University, graduating in 2008. During her fellowship, she completed a Master of Surgery (Breast Surgery) at the University of Sydney, and a Master of Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She is currently undertaking a Master of Surgical Education through Imperial College London, for which she was awarded a Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Master’s Scholarship. DR GAUSIHI SIVARAJAH obtained her General Surgery Fellowship (FRACS) through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2017, working at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and University Hospital Geelong (VIC). Her specialty training is in Oncoplastic Breast, Endocrine, Skin and Soft Tissue Oncology surgery.

In keeping with her interests in Global Surgery, Surgical Education and Public Health; Dr Sivarajah has been dedicated to teaching medical students, junior doctors and surgical trainees in Australia, Fiji and Timor-Leste. Her activities have included being an Invited Panel Member and Speaker at various medical schools to promote Surgery as a Career; appearing as a Keynote Speaker at Breast Cancer Awareness events in Fiji; and organising Surgical Exam Preparation courses for trainees.

Personal experience with cancer affecting close family and friends has strengthened her appreciation of the importance of providing medical expertise with person-centred care for her patients, which encompasses good communication, compassion and professionalism.
